Limbaugh-Palin in '012

ABC News is reporting that the Dems have the votes to pass the health care bill later tonight. What I’m going to say next will likely be seen as controversial by some of you. I don’t care. I’m through ‘pussyfooting’ around. I think the reason we lost today is because we marched, because we jammed switchboards, because we wrote letters – in short, because we made our opposition known only by half measures. For the Left, what we have been (and are) engaged in is a war. For us it is just another in a long series of losing battles. We’re getting too used to losing. And with each loss, the Left grows stronger because we show our hand which continues to be wavering and weak.

The Left rejoices when it can showcase our weakness. For them, AQ and the Taliban deserve more respect than we do. How are we weak? Take our march on then Capitol yesterday. It never even made the news cycle. If mentioned at all, what was subsequently repeated (over and over again) was that some lawmaker had been spit on and another cursed out. Our ordinariness was pathetic; our helplessness, obvious; our demeanor sad-sack civil; impotent in the face of what they perceive to be their power: brand Obama at the helm.

We betray our weakness at every turn. We react. We don’t lead. At the same time we allow those who would lead us to be besmirched. We deny them. We belittle them. We compete amongst ourselves as to who can say the nastiest, most sarcastic things about them. This one’s just a talk show host; a burlesque queen. That one’s from Hicksville, somewhere up in hick Alaska. I never heard anyone on the left having a problem with Byrd, Franken, O’Donnell, Penn and the rest – or even with Obama himself who, truth be told, is just a two-bit, rabble-rousing hood out of Chicago. We never even got to see Obama’s papers because we were too busy digging through Sarah Palin’s underwear drawer.

I still hear quite frequently (from our side) Bush referred to as the worst there ever was – as if Obama is better. I hear from our side Palin labeled ‘stupid’ - as if Biden were a genius. We still deny that we listen to Rush, Beck, Savage, Levin, etc. when challenged. Though, honestly, has anything any one of these men ever said been untrue? You know yourselves that they’ve been right on target. Yet we constantly deny them and treat them as if they don’t really exist, other than in some attic crawl space in our uncommitted minds – like psycho’s mother. And the more we deny them, their views lose their impact. And all that’s left is a pitiful smattering of incoherent slogans on hand-painted signs on the National Mall.

We must come to realize that any leader who may be wanting to emerge to represent our side will become a target. We have shown time and time again that we will buckle and let them take him or her down. Hell, we’ll even assist! Numbers don’t help. We’ve got the numbers - and still we lose. Cull the herd. Get rid of the weak. Keep the strong. We’ve been killing off our strong. We cannot win without leaders. No army has ever won a war without a strong general. Limbaugh-Palin in 2012!

Stop Dicking Around

I don’t see one thing substantive in John’s criticism of Newt. All I see is emotion, culminating in put-down. Why do we insist on trashing our own? Do we have to agree with everything every one of them says - like the Dems agree with their stuffed shirts and empty skirts? No. But we also don’t have to trash them (the way Democrats trash us).

Non-Democrat Party hacks truly are an odd lot. We trash the likes of Limbaugh and Palin in public; then we turn on our radios and listen in secret. We disparage Palin. We say she’s “clearly unqualified”. Does that mean that Obama was qualified to lead our nation? Is Biden qualified? Pelosi? Reid? Why does the question of qualification never come up about Democrats? Is Al Franken qualified to be a U.S. senator? Is he even qualified to be a talk show host? Not by his ratings. So what’s the deal with Palin? Didn’t she run one of these 57 (sic) states, no less – and not into the ground, like some former governors (of CA, NY, VA and NJ)?

What are we really talking about? Electability? Would Michael Moore vote for a Palin? No. Would Sean Penn? Whoopi? Rachel? Clooney? No. No. No. No. Would The New York Times or the Huffington Post ever consider endorsing any Republican – no matter what he or she says? No.

So there you have it. Our candidates do not have to be acceptable to the libs. They have to be acceptable to us. I happen to believe that we still outnumber them despite the big noise they’re capable of generating. And I’m not the only one. Democrat lawmakers themselves are running for the hills. If they were confident, they’d stay and savor their advantage. Maybe all those so-called conservatives who are so quick to disparage our own should gracefully duck out and take a powder. Watch from the sidelines and keep their traps shut.

There’s more at stake here than party politics. Newt has it exactly right. America is in danger. It may already be too late. I happen to think not. But one thing is for damn sure; it soon will be too late if we don’t stop dicking around.

Balloon Boy, Obama, Deflating

Has anybody noticed how competent Biden is starting to look? He seems to be growing in stature even as Obama fizzles.

How many would have voted for the Democrats last November if Biden had led the ticket? It's like the price of a barrel of oil rising. The barrel is not getting any bigger; it’s the currency that’s failing. So too, Biden is not necessarily perceived as being smarter. It’s just that Obama is deflating - like the dollar.

The funny thing is; he doesn't seem to know it. He looks in the mirror each morning and marvels, "I'm still the man!" He pounds the side of his head with the palm of his hand and blinks his eyes hard. "Yeah, I'm still POTUS," he sighs, smiling broadly with all his implants showing.

He either doesn't realize that balloon boy's future is tied to the balloon’s capacity to remain inflated, or he doesn’t care. If he doesn’t know, it’s those around him in the Oval Office who are refusing to tell him - allowing him to happily traipse around Wonderland, making a fool of himself - all the while deflating his balloon further. If he doesn’t care, it’s quite a bit more grotesque. It’s indifference that hurts a nation most.

We must ask ourselves, “Have we elected a stupid man president, or an indifferent man?” Either one will land us on the ash heap of history. But when we think about it down the road - after all that was meant to happen, has happened - it might be easier for us to accept that Obama was merely stupid. ‘Indifference’ has a much more sinister ring to it …and we really would have to paint ourselves with the same brush. Wouldn’t we?

I mean, we’re not really into blame-shifting yet; or are we? God, I’d hate to think that we could have sunk that low. Once we reach that particular slide, it’s pretty much over. That’s exactly the reason most of the countries in the Middle East are so screwed up. When anything goes wrong over there, they’ll always blame Israel first. And then they’ll never do anything further about it. Dilapidated Cuba, same thing: They’ve been blaming the U.S. trade embargo for years. Meanwhile, they’ve always had the opportunity to trade with every other country in the world. Hey, CASTRO! Do you think the problem might be COMMUNISM?

Theoretically, we could shut down all dialogue and blame Bush forever. Under the ‘blame Bush’ umbrella, we could then drive our country ever deeper into the ground. We could spark food shortages, fuel shortages, blackouts, social unrest, violence and mayhem of all sorts. And we could blame Bush for all of it. We could tell our kids that Bush was responsible for Grandma’s house going up in flames last winter. It was because of that damned religion thing she was practicing (Bush’s religion) – that damned Christmas tree of hers. It had nothing to do with the frayed wires we happened to notice as she was setting it up. It had nothing to do with the town not being able to afford hiring more fire fighters or maintain their equipment. No, it was all Bush’s fault; every thing is Bush’s fault; everything will always be Bush’s fault.

And as blame gets heaped higher and higher, Bush will begin to reach a pinnacle of sorts. They won’t be able to avoid naming a street or town after him – or a transfer station (like they do in NJ). He’ll be just as alpine as Obama’s listing balloon. And when the two of them come face to face, they will see they are brothers; that one reached celebrity on a mountain of blame while the other reached it on a bag of hot air.

Meanwhile, things down below will get seriously worse, until we ourselves start accepting some responsibility for what happens and get off our duffs and work to make a difference.
