Cutting Off The Nose

Is that how these people see themselves - used car salesmen? I thought a president was elected ‘to preserve and protect’; to run things (and not into the ground). I guess I’ve been wrong all along when it comes to this bunch. At least they’re still selling - not yet at gun point. Aside from the fact that governments create only incestuous jobs, they don’t seem to understand that selling always involves no less than two parties. Both have to agree for the deal to go through. So far, there is no deal. The public is not buying.

I heard recently in passing that one of the Federal departments got rid of all their Fords and replaced the original fleet with Chevies. The Chevies were termed ‘junk’ (by the insider) and declared unsuitable to their purpose. Clearly, a conflict. Understandable that the government was wanting to push its own brand - suitability be damned.

When the public favored Ford over Chevy, it did so to make its position clear. All things were not equal. The public preferred one over the other . One accepted a government bailout; the other did not. Buying a Ford proclaimed one’s feeling toward the issue.

No matter how intense the advertising (selling), the public will not buy a ‘socialist mop’ - not the American public at any rate. It’s got to be forced down their throats - gavage. Obama and crew may see us as geese, but that’s not how we see ourselves. We will fight back in our own way.

We know their game: They want jobs so they can trumpet success and collect taxes to fuel their agenda. They make it seem like we are the ones wanting the jobs. We don’t.

If we wanted jobs, we’d get it done. Long before it dawned on Republicans to ‘starve’ offensive government outreach (to Muslims, unions, communists and the like), we the people were already deeply engaged: dragging our heels, holding back, starving (if you will) the government’s ability to proclaim a meaty victory.

We recognized long before the government did - before the media did - that only we could create jobs; that we were the only ones with that power. We could turn off the spigot - and we did. They say socialism fails wherever it‘s tried. Socialism doesn‘t fail; the public rejects it. Cutting off the nose is a worthy sacrifice if the face is no longer the face of America.

Rats Fleeing

The departure of key personnel from the White House also marks the abandonment of the last vestige of any relevant metrics with regard to polls, vote count (Rahm and Axelrod), the economy (Summers), the war in Afghanistan (Gates) by which to evaluate the success or failure of the Obama administration. From now on the White House will be operating purely on faith. Faith does not require data, logic or reason as a basis for decision making. All it requires is the blunt outline of an ideology.

This, simply put, means that Obama will likely continue to do what he alone feels is right. He will no longer be required to pay attention to voters’ concerns or to statistics that define traditional economic realities, or actual conditions on foreign battlefields.

This shifts our Republic to an autocracy. If the president, even after elections, refuses to work with Congress, or even bypasses Congress altogether; if he refuses to listen to the wisdom of experts; if he chooses to ignore the complaints of the electorate, then we are all at the mercy of a single, possibly mad, mind.

As Hermann Hesse so eloquently puts it in “Steppenwolf”, his true magnum opus (as opposed to “The Glass Bead Game” which is commonly considered as such), “All interpretation, all psychology, all attempts to make things comprehensible, require a medium of theories, mythologies and lies…”

We now know that Obama is not the 'savior'. He may not even be the smartest among us. To trust any single man to steer our nation of 50 States is pure madness. The one item that was missing from the Republican plan - the most important item - was to immediately initiate impeachment procedures.

I actually don’t think so. I think this White House runs primarily on ideology. Granted, there are some – Axelrod, perhaps – who look to polls and ‘Jewish checks’ in order to gage how the Administration is doing relative to previous administrations. This is their job. But the president does not listen to them. He may respond reluctantly to repeated harangues from such people, but ultimately more money or less money means nothing to Obama.

No doubt, Obama is preoccupied – perhaps even obsessed – with Israel as previous administrations have been. He knows that if he were able to facilitate a solution during his terms in office, he would be lauded until the end of history. The question is by whom? The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has been a hard nut to crack. On a scale of challenge it ranks with Mt. Everest – or, better yet, K2. The reason there has been no solution is because there are too many opportunists – especially on the Arab side - who do not want it solved. It is their bread and butter. It represents their access to the trough.

Obama and America in general are seen as the trough. Previous administrations all have accepted their role as that trough. They married themselves first and foremost to the task of keeping the trough filled. Not so Obama. He appears to be prepared to hand over an empty trough to all those feeding from it and inviting this hungry brood to partake of the main meal: Israel.

He knows it will erupt in conflagration. But, as one trained in community organizing, this is his ultimate aim. His bias tends clearly toward the Arab side of the equation. Note: Obama has not demanded that Arab nations recognize Israel’s right to exist. To be fair, neither have previous administrations. However, Obama’s motives are markedly different.

Whereas previous administrations were primarily troubled by the possible disruption of Middle Eastern oil flowing to the free world, Obama would welcome such a development as it would likely plunge the Western democracies into chaos. I still say that Obama’s ultimate aim is chaos.

Expect him to agitate; expect him to do all he can to bolster the chances of America’s enemies to emerge unscathed. This is how he aims to enhance his global street cred to the point of where he can no longer be ignored. He ultimately hopes to be embraced as the one responsible for having slain not only the Little Satan, but the Great Satan as well. What better resume for a man who is consumed by his own self-importance – to have been the one to have crafted a solution to what was widely seen as an impossible project!

Naturally, the world – including the Arabs – will shun him. Even they know that there is nothing on this earth lower than a traitor.

Hope vs. Success

‘Hope’ is the last refuge for the defeated dying. It is possible that when Axelrod crafted the message of ‘hope’ for Obama, he had already seen the writing on the wall. The media shock troops had performed well. Everyone was under the impression that America under Bush and Republicans was mired in the depths of debauchery; that we had hit bottom; that we couldn’t possibly sink any lower. It was a message that had echoed throughout major media for as long as Bush was in office. It had echoed in the universities and in our schools. It had echoed in the churches; in beer halls and on TV. We were told we had lost our way; that he only way out was to elect Barack Hussein Obama – or ‘the savior’, as he was known. And we did.

It was a cakewalk for David Axelrod, a man who had scored so many successes, not only at home, but oversees as well. No doubt, he knows his business. But I think of him more as a very sharp tool in the kitchen drawer than a hammer/sickle ideologue; more as a brilliant scientist in a white lab coat, entirely focused on concocting the next WMD. True, all his successes were on the left-hand side of the ledger. It’s easy to paint him as a leftie. My problem with that is that he has been productive and, what’s more, highly successful. (His firm recently engineered a win for the Russia-leaning candidate over the Orange Revolution candidate in Ukraine.) ‘Success’ is generally not so much a part of the essence of Leftists. ‘Hope’ is.

Hope is the ultimate shortcut for underachievers. There’s a big difference in the mindset of a person who hopes that things will turn out alright and a person who actively does something to improve his chances for success. Axelrod may have hit his high water mark with the election of Obama. Curiously, I have yet to see anyone pointing fingers at Axelrod. It could well be that Obama doesn’t even know he’s there; he’s likely not even listening.
