Hubris

As for the Cote d’Ivoire situation where the dictator, Laurent Gbagbo, is refusing to leave his palace after December’s election went against him being a model for modern dictators - including Kaddafi, Sale at Sa’ana, Ahmadinejad, Hugo Chavez among others - one name is never mentioned: Barack Hussein “gee, it would be easier to be president of China” Obama.

Instead, what our man-child president does is consistently seen in the abstract and labeled ‘inattention’, ‘inexperience’, ‘tough luck’, etc. Occasionally, some mainstream pundit will go so far as to lay our failings at the feet of ‘government’.

Largely ignored is what Obama has actually been doing to bring about our present state of malaise. ‘Ruling against the will of the people’ is frequently mentioned by the Tea parties as a catch-all; true enough, but is hardly worth much more than the adhesive on a bumper sticker. How about our illustrious president deciding which laws to enforce or not? Now we’re getting into specifics. But who is it who would rap a stick across Barack’s knuckles and tell him to stop doing that? How about signing clearly unconstitutional legislation, breaking treaties, governing by fiat through unaccountable czars and agencies? How about lying, deliberately damaging our economy; engaging in crony capitalism; encouraging dissent; overriding legislative customs, rules and procedures; ignoring judicial rulings; laundering money; propagandizing? The list goes on and on…

The voters of Wisconsin speak and elect a conservative governor. The White House inserts itself into Wisconsin politics and brings the state to a chaotic halt. Ditto, Arizona. Now there is a concerted effort to recall duly elected representatives for casting ‘wrong’ votes. No doubt, the White House is 100%behind it. How long before the WH threatens lawmakers' wives and kids? How long before lawmakers are intimidated and called incendiary names as in the case of ‘dead man Walker’?

All these are signs of a government that is out of control. In Japan, a nuclear power station blows up. Death and devastation are not necessarily immediate. It’s cumulative over time. We too are fast running out of options. So much has happened already under this president. It’s made us all but immune to the particulars. Many have awoken, but now throw up their hands. What will it take for the rest to wake up? A stolen election? Some kind if national calamity? Or will it finally sink in only in 2013 when we find that Obama is president yet again?

‘Hubris’ comes immediately to mind. It’s a good word with a rich history, coined by the Greeks. Look it up; or look it up again even if you think you know what it means. It would be well for us to learn how to recognize it, because it’s about to engulf us.

We've Dug Deep Enough

Interesting architecture to the spin coming out of the Middle East (as the region burns). At first, it was Tunisia. Then Tunisia was faulted for what happened in Egypt; then, Tunisia was all but forgotten and Egypt became the fault for what’s happening in Bahrain; and so it goes on and on: the incident previous to the last one is conveniently forgotten with the aim of burying the source of the agitation. It’s very much like our housing collapse was explained to us.

Also, Israel is hardly ever mentioned; neither is Islam. POTUS is said to be unaware and unprepared. There’s no indication that he even knows that the 5th Fleet is anchored in Bahrain - or cares.

How can he not care? How can he not know? Ask such questions and you soon stumble upon the source of it all. He knows full well. He cares a lot - but not in the way we care. Despite all those exotic names that Americans can no longer pronounce or locate on a map, the real target in all this is the U.S. and, of course, Israel.

The script was hatched in the White House and it’s global in nature. It involves everything from Pakistan to Arizona and now Wisconsin. The plan is still unfolding, perfectly coordinated. There are no surprises for those in the know.

Look all that’s happened in the past two years since Barack Hussein Obama has been in office: the economy tanking; our foreign policy in disarray; people out in the streets protesting; our states insolvent; immigration out of control; our system of governance unresponsive to the public’s demands; jobs vanishing; oil and food prices spiking; etc. I suppose we can always blame it on Bush - or George Washington.

The ride to hell is infinite. We’ve already blown by any number of major milestones. (The passage of Obamacare was one. So was the sinking of the Cheonan.) We’ve been told to ignore all that. Who among us, looking at all this wreckage, can say we’ve turned the corner? Who can honestly say things are improving; that America is scoring points? Every day we’re treated to a new and ominous reality. Every day we dig ourselves deeper. Enough with the shovel-ready jobs already! We’ve dug deep enough.

It is an accident of destiny? I maintain it’s not. And we’d better start calling a spade a spade.

Brave New World

The mood in this country is palpable. There are tripwires everywhere. It has nothing to do with what happened in Arizona or anywhere. Hat tip to Sarah Palin who finds herself in the eye of the storm. Perhaps she is stupid after all. Any sane person would be running for the hills. But, I suspect, she’s simply unafraid - a brave, young woman, just wanting to serve, and willing to put herself at risk for what she truly believes, trusting that’s what an increasingly timid America wants as well.

Americans are a practical sort. They view elections largely as a distraction, something that takes time away from their own routines and concerns. Back in 2008, confronted with the distraction of elections once again, they just wanted to get it over with. They hurriedly consulted the Yellow Pages and made their pick. “They’re all the same,” they concluded. “One black; one white (in the proverbial chocolate box). They all taste sweet. It doesn’t really matter.” But they made one huge mistake.

While looking under the “B’s” for “builder”, they mistakenly opened their phone books to the “D’s” and picked a name at random under the category, “Demolition”. Now, both the client and the hired hand are upset. Obama thinks what he’s doing is right.

I’m re-reading the book, ’Brave New World’, I’ve had lying around here since high school. It might have been on a suggested summer reading list back in the late sixties. “Re-reading” might well be a stretch. I don’t think I ever read it - only the first few pages, perhaps. Now, I find, it basically describes two paths, one inward and one out. Both are infinite. Neither has much of anything to do with appearances (or Maya, if you wish). Huxley makes it a point to describe the civilized world as perfect and clean. On the other hand, the savage world is undisciplined and dirty. There is disease, degradation and aging. Yet, an undercurrent of revolt seems to run stronger just below the surface in the civilized world. When the D.H.C is exposed, it acts as a tripwire and all hell breaks loose.

Obama, and liberals on the Left in general, are pursuing the outward path, seeking to regulate every facet of human behavior. Many have tried this. They’ve all meant well; but they’ve failed every time. There’s nothing to suggest that giving it a bath and new clothes will make it any more acceptable.

This outward journey alone is clearly not sustainable. It results in an edifice that must crack and splinter under its own weight. Life and its expression will not be contained. Individuals will not entirely submit to either God or Ford. Like the roots of trees that push and probe for water and, in the process, undermine foundations, the human spirit will not be held by one single ideology. It will increasingly turn inward, find nourishment there and, at the appropriate time, burst forth. It will bleed and excrete terrible poisons. But that only shows it’s alive in contrast to the Dems’ pale, bloated, carcass-like, Botox vision that can promise only inexhaustible supplies of soma tablets.

Larger Than It Is

The Frilled Neck Lizard is an amazing little reptile. It is also an Australian icon. They are between 70 to 90 cm. long, and have a 'frill' around their head. When the lizard gets frightened, it opens its mouth and the frill puffs out. This is to make the lizard appear larger than it is.

For those of you bewildered by the reporting this past weekend, you must remember who the media is. The mainstream media, as has already been too often observed, has been utterly corrupted either by ideology or money. It exists for one purpose only: to facilitate the Left’s agenda. It does so routinely either through intimidation or obfuscation. This weekend’s incident in Arizona was an exercise in both.

The primary aim of our media is to shut down debate; to label opposing views as dangerous or just plain silly. Remember, they did the same thing when they elevated a no-name cipher to the very pinnacle of U.S. governance, allowing for little or no investigation. To question was considered rube behavior. Ditto, ‘global warming’ - at one point, even questioning the premise was considered criminal, on the level of holocaust denial.

Now they’re doing the same thing with the economy which is clearly in a tailspin. The people are no longer fooled. The media has lost all credibility. The next election will show that they’re cruising on vapors. We’re listening to talk radio and browsing the internet for our news.

The U.S. media acts as a ‘frill’ for the Left. They make it seem larger than it actually is.

When Did You Stop Beating Your Wife?

Linking Sarah Palin to the AZ shootings is a low blow, even for the NYT. Just goes to show how desperate they‘ve become. Unfortunately, it works for now - like Obamacare will continue to work in their favor; like cap and trade; immigration; etc.

People believe what they want to believe. They’ll believe it even if the facts speak against it. Some will believe in God simply because they see a church. Others see a church simply as a configuration of stone, and do not see God there.

The overwhelming public narrative that says Republicans are evil and that Sarah Palin is stupid wins out every time. It is deep-rooted. Even those who believe this narrative to be patently unfair support it every time they quote from the NYT; every time they try to engage by giving voice to their counterpoint.

The only effective way to fight it is to ignore it. I know many of you have long since cancelled your subscriptions to the NYT. This is not enough. You cannot quiet the noise from the left. It is there and it always will be. Do what the Left does to us. Don’t pay any attention to it. Don’t react; don’t engage. Pretend it isn’t there. Roll your eyes; raise your eyebrows; shake your heads. Marginalize it; ignore it and walk away.

This is what they’re doing to us. Though we claim greater numbers, we still fall for the old trick of being goaded into defending ourselves (when did you stop beating your wife?) - against what? False claims? If the shoe doesn’t fit, don’t wear it.

Not sure how this will play out. The visuals are misleading but powerful: Arizona; Dem. Congress woman shot; first black president; opposition to his policies; racism; etc. The palette of colors has been defined. The shape of the argument proceeds as planned. The painting emerges just as envisioned. We react, taking a defensive stance - or we just remain silent, stunned by the picture that continues to emerge.

Know who you are. Know what you believe. Believe in yourself. Don’t let them confuse you. Don’t stammer. Rather, stay quiet. They are professionals. You don’t stand a chance playing their game. There will come an opening. That’s when we act.

Shift Sleep Disorder

I once worked the night shift: 12 midnight to eight. It wasn’t very pleasant. I never got used to it. What I remember most was that sleeping in daylight never broke time up into a series of digestible days. Time just seemed to go on and on - an unbroken spill that steadily petered off into exhaustion.

The ‘end of the Obama beginning’ is not what everyone expects: the end of Obama. It is only the beginning. I have written often that, in my opinion, Obama is not about to fade away. (I hope I’m wrong.) What it could mean is that Obama will let his mask slip and reveal himself as everything people thus far have only whispered about - not as incompetent; not naïve; but - as determined to take the country further left than anyone could ever have imagined. In order to do this, he will seek to unleash the four horsemen: pestilence, war, famine, and death.

It’s already started: The oil spill in the Gulf; Federal authorities have already closed U.S. park land along with three Arizona counties along the Mexican border because it is no longer safe for Americans after the territory was taken over by violent NGO drug smuggling cartels. This, like the spill, too will spread.

Our economy continues to teeter on the brink. What can be expected to happen when government checks begin to bounce off the rim like wayward basket balls? When businesses are forced to close forever? When trains no longer run, and store shelves and gas tanks are on empty?

The remaining months of the Obama presidency will be operatic indeed – like a forty car pile-up on a California freeway to be savored in slow-mo as we stand mesmerized by the spectacle of fire, blood and twisting steel. By 2012, we may already have our first glimpse through haze of the still smoldering ruin that once was America; of the eternal twilight, hallmark of the Left’s equalitarian vision which the majority of us freely consented to embrace.
