Bits: Around the World in 80 Days

If Mexico started shelling us from across the border, how long would we do nothing more than to hide in our cellars? This is the reality Israel has been facing for some time now. It knows that the shelling is designed to provoke a greater war in the region – a war (barring a Biblical miracle) she would lose.

Israel has essentially zero friends. Even if she were to defend herself successfully, she would be condemned by virtually all nations. Should she lay herself down in front of the lions and beg for mercy, there might be a chance – but you know how lions are.

At the moment – even with Obama’s empty rhetoric – Kaddafi has more street creds than Israel could ever hope to have. Kaddafi’s crime was to stand up against AQ and the Iranian axis. We jumped on the scaffold too soon. The axe hadn’t been sharpened yet and we looked foolish just holding sticks in our hands.

Kaddafi will fall – they all do – but it will be on his terms. In 50 years, all the kids will be wearing t-shirts with Kaddafi’s picture on it.

Kaddafi had long ago agreed to support and be a key member of Soros’ Open Society. In that he was one up on us. (We joined up much later.) He knew how to work it. He knows where the bones are buried, even if he never intended to swallow all of it.

Thaddeus gets it – up to a point. The reason it no longer matters if the president shows up for work or not; the reason it no longer matters if the parties tie themselves in knots over what essentially amount to non-issues; the reason our government has ceased to function in its service for the people of the United States is because our government is now elsewhere. It is elsewhere that the real decisions are now being made –while Washington remains a convenient diversion, a pointless, but seductive charade.

Look at the flourishes of the right hand and miss what the left hand is doing. If you really want to know what’s going on, look to Soros' Open Society, look to the UN, look to The Hague, look to NATO. Washington has long since surrendered its sword.

CPAC blah, blah, blah...

McCotter has it exactly right. He gets it. Unfortunately, nobody is listening. Or, those who are listening have nothing to say about what our government is presently doing. Actually, there’s now a consensus in this country on a wide range of issues. The problem is that the tail continues to wag the dog.

You mean to say that passing Obamacare was a good idea? No. I do believe hardly anyone agrees with it - especially the people in the health care field. Yet, it was shoved through in a nasty, unconstitutional way, and now we’re apparently stuck with it. There’s virtually no chance of repeal. Republicans will try, but will run into so much static; it almost won’t be worth the effort. Same with every other bill that has become law during the Obama administration’s first two years in office.

Even after it came out that ‘global warming’ was a hoax, Obama and Democrats are still pushing their ‘green’ agenda. Gas is now well above $3.00 a gallon. (I believe they want it to go up to around five.) Food prices are rising. U.S. debt is rising. Internationally, dominos are falling… It’s all going to hell in a hand basket, much of which, despite what anybody says, is the direct result of our current administration‘s policies. It would now take but a feather to knock us down and out for good.

What is our government’s response? More of the same. Everything is fine. Prosperity is just around the corner. Voices, like McCotter’s are routinely ignored, discredited and marginalized by our own media. Any attempt to fix things is continually upstaged by events, sidetracked amid the din of ever escalating crisis.

There’s little chance of making headway now and for at least the next two years. By that time, it could well be over for us.

This winter alone, we’ve had to dig our cars out of snow banks no less than three times already. This was even before we could make it out into the street. Each time took longer to set things right. It wasn’t impossible. But each time the city plows passed by, they managed to throw even more snow into our driveway.

So too it is with a government seemingly determined to diminish our once great nation. We ought to be doing more than just make speeches. ‘Organizing For America’ (emphasis on ‘organizing’) still seems to be the only game in town. The rest is just endless talk about polls, put-downs, and ratings. Truly, I don’t see how we can last another two years, much less six.

Batchelor @ the Hard Rock

I cannot believe that Californians are still suffering from Bush Derangement Syndrome. If true, it’s the only way to explain it - putting Democrats back in office. Carly Fioria is a survivor. That in itself should say it all. Boxer is a clinger. Whitman is a message. Brown is an antique.

This brings to mind something I had forgotten: Remember back when Rush Limbaugh lost his hearing? Can you imagine anything worse than for a radio host to lose hearing? Yet, he never missed a beat. True, those initial broadcasts right after his hearing loss were painful to listen to. (Someone had to transcribe what was said by his callers for him to read.) Still, it amounted to a magnificent display of pure will.

Last night at the Hard Rock was equally inspiring. Surely John’s job is a lot more difficult than how he made it seem. I was especially pleased to find myself in the same room as Malcolm Hoenlein. Larry Kudlow was better than he is on his own show, and Monica and Margaret graced the stage with their beauty and intellect.

I had expected something far more informal. McCotter doing a guitar solo, perhaps; or Sapientia taking a bow. None of that. It was professional all the way. BRAVO, John!

Tea Party

Whereas I have been critical of Thaddeus McCotter (and Republicans in general) in the past, I do believe now that he has found religion. The Tea Party movement has developed into a serious political force in our nation. Its reach extends across state lines; it is not dependent on campaign cash, and even seems immune to the unrelenting ridicule and attacks orchestrated by the White House and its lackeys in the state-run media.

Tea Party dogma does not revolve around single issues like comparable movements on the Left that seems to be able to generate sizable rent-a-mobs in support of gender, race, immigration, environmental and foreign policy issues. Tea Parties appear to have a comprehensive view re all of those, including some of their own. Examples: spending, taxes, schools and unwarranted government intrusion into American’s private lives. Though Tea Party supporters are not primarily focused on foreign affairs, they tend to support of Israel and other traditional American allies.

Tea partiers pose a threat not only to the ruling elites, but also to what is seen as its adjuncts: corporate, academe, media, unions and the like. Money, traditionally generated by such deep pocket interests seemingly has no effect on the unprecedented growth of the movement. Politically, it is expedient for politicians with aspirations to higher office to align themselves with the movement or, at the very least, to make certain not to end up in its crosshairs.

No doubt, the movement developed in response to the blind ideological stance the Obama administration has adopted. It acknowledges that career politicians of both major parties have been complicit in causing the general downturn in America’s fortunes. Even more important, Tea partiers are determined that they will no longer be the victims of a political process that has managed to upend the slave/master paradigm.

The Tea Party, thus far, is has been a grassroots movement without a face. All attempts at painting it as racist, stupid, seditious, have failed. In fact, every attempt to portray Tea partiers as dangerous, Timothy McVey or supremacist militia types has only served to make them stronger. Where the ruling class and most of the pundits make their mistake is by casting the Tea Party as a political entity - a third party alternative to Republicans and Democrats. The Tea Party is not political. It is a popular uprising. Its aim is not to win elections. (Sorry, Lou Dobbs.) Its aim is to be king maker; to elect people to political office - regardless of political affiliation - who they feel most closely approximate a return to reasonable and effective governance.

The next test for the movement will be crucial to its ultimate impact. No doubt, a leader will emerge. Perhaps he or she already has. As long as this leader is not tempted to overtly pursue political office, the party remains relatively safe. Ideas, thus far, have been immune to the proverbial sticks and stones. It is the human face of a party that is most exposed to smear. As long as no leader emerges, the idea of America returning to its former self will continue to grow. And the Tea Party will have served its purpose.

Defending America

I had to look up the word “trenchant” again. Something didn’t quite fit. I guess it could mean ‘strong’. There was nothing strong about McCotter’s speech – or trenchant. It was matched, I thought, by the scattered applause. What were there, about a dozen people?

True, everything McCotter said was credible and worth hearing. We say the same thing every day in one way or another on this blog. I did note one significant omission, however, when he said, “We (Republicans) defend America from her enemies and we support her allies”; this, a clear reference to Israel no doubt. Fair enough. What McCotter failed to say was, “We defend America from her enemies at home (as well as abroad)!"

Our enemies at home are currently our most immediate threat. We don’t have ‘differences’ with our enemies. We’re in a war. Until that’s settled, we don’t have a ghost of a chance of doing anything overseas. I would urge Mr. McCotter to name the enemy right here at home. It is not Democrats as we have come to know Democrats. It is the socialist/Marxists that have driven the once proud Democrat Party into the dirt and who now, under cover of its once hallowed name, are exploiting our own rules to wage war against America itself.

Lest we forget, it was leftist democrats who were singularly responsible for causing our housing meltdown, from the ashes of which they raised up Barack Hussein Obama, who’s been wreaking havoc on the institutions of our nation ever since he’s been in office.

“We stand for…blah, blah, blah” is no longer enough. We must fight the beast in our midst. We must name it. We must hold it accountable. We must make it clear in no uncertain terms, “Hell no! We won’t go there! We will refuse to submit to being enslaved by debt, communist propaganda and ignorance. And YES, capitalism works if it’s allowed to do so! Capitalism is not broken. The reason we’re in the state we’re in is because capitalism has been misused and deliberately skewed to give the impression of failure - so that we would yield en masse to authoritarian rule under Barack Hussein Obama and his faux Democrats.”

Defending the nation includes defending it from its enemies within. These, unhappily, are now in power. They do not comprise a majority. Defending the nation includes defending it from lies; from rabble-rousers; from ruthless opportunists; from starry-eyed impractical dreamers; from ideologues; from would-be tyrants; nihilists and anarchists. Such folks will always exist in a country as big as ours. But they certainly don’t need to be in power. Given the keys to the school bus, they pose a clear and present danger. It’s high time we put down some rules as to the kind of people that can be allowed to govern this great country. Let's at the very least stick to adults. (Does anybody realize that Obama would never be allowed to hold a government job under present rules?)

There’s a very wealthy CEO who lives in Bombay with his family. He’s very fond of cars and owns a stable of them. His latest acquisition was a Rolls Royce Ghost. His teenage son takes the keys and drives two blocks down the road to a bar where he drinks. He hands the keys to the valet who then parks the car somewhere in the back. America is the Rolls Royce; the teenage son is Obama. Think about it, Mr. McCotter.

Category Error

Scott - Your reply to Tom from NJ's post (in John Batchelor's blog) is a classic example of a "category error". Tom writes from within the framework of what the U.S. once was. Your point of departure is based in what the U.S. has become. I agree with you that under Obama there's no point in prolonging this or any fight. I too lament the loss of trust in us by our allies, the now wasted sacrifices we must endure, and the credibility we've blown. But to go on as before is now folly, as you suggest. The first thing we must do is to set our own house in order.

It's a common slip-up, glaringly apparent in virtually any discussion on any given blog. Even Thaddeus McCotter fell into the trap in his speech before Congress posted above.

Ironically, any hope of us changing the world has gone down the drain with the election of Obama. The barbarians have outmaneuvered us. The proof of the pudding was in today's announcement that Obama had won the Nobel Peace (or absence of war) prize. There are only two ways for either side involved in a conflict to secure peace. One is to win outright; the other is to surrender. The Nobel Prize committee was not wrong. They simply placed all their bets on the now certain recognition that we will yield.

Now Is the Time

There seems to be some confusion about the number of people attending the March on Washington rally this weekend. Press reports have it anywhere from several scores to two million. This tells me that this event in and of itself has not succeeded in piercing the media’s protective Teflon coating around the president. People of differing political persuasions will still be able to cite the source of their choice in order to support their arguments. I personally subscribe to the higher number (and this is not counting all those millions who wanted to, but could not attend).

This just points out that we cannot rest; that we have to continue to find inventive new ways of piercing the media bubble around Obama. Joe Wilson did it – and he was just one man. Glenn Beck and his team of intrepids also managed it – and these were just a handful.

The accompanying video (above) clearly showed that the young reporters were unhinged. They did not expect what was happening (at the 9/12 Washington rally). In order to succeed in bringing some sanity back into our public discourse, we need to get the press to heel. We need to get them to acknowledge that something of seismic proportions is happening here; something that cannot be simply swept under the rug with blanket accusations of ‘racism’.

Our elected representatives too are not stupid. They must by now have recognized the tremendous opportunities that exist simply for the courage of stepping forward and taking up the reigns. They also must see the perils (to themselves) of attempting to maintain the status quo. Who will it be? Who will step into the breach? Will it be Joe Wilson? Thaddeus McCotter?

Every great nation can expect a savior to appear when that nation is in trouble. America is a great nation. She is in trouble. Who will come forward? Now is the time!

Saving Our Nation

I don't think that simply voting yes (no) on greenhouse gasses will give Thaddeus McCotter a get-out-of-jail-free card. It's not just stating the numbers of those attending the proposed 9/12 March on Washington; he must be there. It's not just keeping silent when talk turns to talk radio (Levin, Gambling, Savage, Hannity, etc.); he must appear (like Peter King). He must not speak in veiled terms when defining this administration as essentially 'socialist', 'Marxist', 'statist', 'Jacobin', usurper, anti-American. The American people already know that this administration's policies make them that and more. He must not be afraid to suffer the slings and arrows of the American media and those of mercenary organizations like ACORN and moveon.org. He must be willing to be pilloried by the Left; to proudly show his wounds and outrage without flinching.

These ads by moveon.org are just a taste. They mean nothing except to those trapped inside Oz. The action has shifted beyond and into the hearts and minds of Americans who see themselves as having been abused by the likes of Ted Kennedy for decades. They are gathering steam; they are fighting back - not violently, as this is not their style - the only way they can, by sitting on their hands and letting the economy grind to a halt. (Washington does not run the economy; the people do.) The final blow afforded them will come at election time when everyone - Democrat and Republican alike - will be unceremoniously swept out.

I hope McCotter reads this. He should know that this great political force that is building will lay waste to all the corruption and double-dealing in DC. For the first time in a long while (probably not since the American Revolution), the decks will be swept clean in a burst of righteous anger. "You're either with us, or against us." There is no middle ground. Line up with the folks outright and conspicuously, or you too will be swept off the stage - along with the rest of us should we fail in this great endeavor which involves nothing less than saving our nation.

Death By A Thousand Cuts

Again we have Thaddeus questioning how many angels can dance on the head of a pin, thinking that death by a thousand cuts will actually impact this essentially lawless administration. What he should be asking is the big questions, like: Is the rule of law (as applies to the executive branch) still in effect? If not, ask the president to officially suspend the Constitution and declare martial law. Then, Obama can go ahead and do what he wants - no questions asked.

One of the things that got Bush in trouble over and over again was not officially declaring war on the 'axis'. In the end, it became a convoluted legal matter to figure out just who the enemy was. Absurdly, the progressives succeeded in flipping the script to make Bush himself the enemy. ...and, incredibly, most people went along with it.

McCotter's 'thousand cuts' approach won't work because, aside from this website, it gets zero coverage. Only Republican turn-coats and appeasers get liberal coverage in the MSM. Only American patriots who dare ask the big questions have any chance of getting noticed (albeit in a negative way, but noticed nonetheless) and breaking through the glass ceiling the American media has established to determine just who gets to sit in the front of the bus.
