Rubber Duckie Congress Down The Drain

Note that POTUS never seems to stick around when big things happen. This week saw Benjamin Netanyahu - our only reliable ally ‘east of Greece and West of India’ - come to Washington. Why? Because something is not right in Washington – and all Israel knows it.

We saw two leaders side by side – only one of which is actually a leader in the traditional sense. The other showed himself as a ‘leader’ in name only. The difference between the two men was obvious for all to see. Some stated publicly that our president stood out as an utter embarrassment. While Mr. Netanyahu was still in Washington, Obama fled to Europe - the latest hotbed of anti-Semitism – looking for LTC. Good for him! As the saying goes, ‘If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.’

What’s wrong in Washington is not that Obama is not an effective leader; or, as some have suggested, that ‘he leads from behind’. What’s wrong in Washington is that Obama sides with the Palestinians. Many in Congress – even Democrats – have already spoken out, saying they disagree with Obama’s approach. In Europe he will not likely encounter that particular sentiment. Note: While the Palestinians speak openly about what they intend for Israel, our president speaks merely in broad, platitudinous arcs that can be interpreted anyway you want; but his actions are unmistakable. Netanyahu has figured it out. That’s why he is in Washington. Israel is in trouble and Washington won’t help. It’s not even help the Israeli PM is pleading for. All he wants is for America to stop making it worse.

Unfortunately, foreign policy is something that falls totally under the purview of the president. Congress does not have much if anything to say about what the president does. Everyone now seems to accept the president’s contention that he is not subject to the war powers act as pertains to Libya, for example. And on a whole host of other issues, Congress has already been edged out of its traditional ‘checks and balances’ mandate as proscribed by the Constitution.

So, what Netanyahu says to Congress is just talk. Congress has stood idly by while this president has turned it into a rubber duckie stamp; and, along with it, the people have lost their franchise as well. What is never said or even whispered has now become true: The United States of America has become a dictatorship: one vote, one man, one time.

Massacre At Mazar-i-Sharif: It’s A U.S. Pastor’s Fault

In order to bring back any semblance of sanity to our public and private affairs, our people have to be re-educated, all the way from basic math to an understanding of right and wrong. In the absence of any standard - which is where we are now - who is to pass judgment? For far too long we’ve been drifting. Every issue has become existential; a tug of war, pulling our nation apart. We have yet to learn that our near paralysis in responding to events stems from being so utterly disorganized; that the most organized – not the most powerful, not the most tolerant, not the kindest – invariably win the day. The storming of the UN (do-gooder) compound in the Afghan town of Mazar-i-Sharif earlier today drives this thought.

It’s hard to imagine any outrage building in the West over the burning of a Bible or an American flag. In fact, this would likely be applauded by untold numbers of our own. We even tolerate the daily shredding of our own Constitution. We tolerate gross incompetence in leadership. We tolerate insult. We tolerate the erosion of our living standards. We tolerate decline. We even tolerate the intolerant.

At this point we lose. We declare ourselves ‘good people’. Why? Because we are tolerant, of course. At the same time, we have no idea that ‘good’ actually means standing for something. Without any discernable standards to go by, who is to say? We are fruit, ripe for the picking. We will not defend ourselves because we have nothing to defend. A man robs us on the street and we say, “He probably needs it more than us.” And, once again, we fall for the ruse of equating tolerance with virtue.

Our enemies have noticed. They are advancing without feeling the need even to disguise themselves. The drama of vultures feasting on a corpse is unfolding right before our eyes. Despite our considerable arsenal of bombs - which is larger than all the bombs in the world combined - no one respects us.

It’s open season. Libya is not the arena to demonstrate our roar – like Iraq was, and (to a lesser extent) Afghanistan. In Libya we lose no matter who wins. Our immediate focus should be on Iran. Instead we ignore it.

The world wonders and waits, vying for position for the privilege of driving the final stake through America’s heart. At this point, it’s no contest. Anyone can do it. Buried up to our necks in our own justifications for our limitless tolerance, anyone can throw the stone that will put out the lights.

Dilma's Dilemma

Another teachable moment. Another glimpse into the mind of our president, Barack Hussein Obama. How he is handling Libya could have been foreseen long ago. Other commanders-in-chief have done as much at the mere drop of a hat. It’s not what happens there that should be of concern to us. Of far greater concern should be what we ourselves have become.

We have become a nation of lawless and corrupt governance. Our Constitution specifies that Congress must be consulted, and be made to approve any deployment of American troops overseas. Barack Hussein Obama is the first president to bypass this convention. Instead, he claims to derive his power from what he refers to as the ‘international community’ (UN). As such, he has further shredded the Constitution of the United States. At the same time, he is continuing to marginalize the role of Congress. So much for representative governance.

Again, all this could have been foreseen. Months back, I wrote that the deliberate chaos in the 111th Congress would serve to discredit the institution irreparably. Here we have it in black and white. What does this say about the sanctity of our vote? In a short two years we have devolved from a constitutional republic to a tyranny.

Our media does not appear to grasp the enormity of what has happened to us. Small wonder. The success or failure of any quasi-democratic setup depends on an educated public. Our schools have become mere cookie cutters. The level of understanding among recent graduates is astoundingly below par. It cuts across the board from math through English. “When NEWSWEEK recently asked 1,000 U.S. citizens to take America’s official citizenship test, 29 percent couldn’t name the vice president. Seventy-three percent couldn’t correctly say why we fought the Cold War. Forty-four percent were unable to define the Bill of Rights. And 6 percent couldn’t even circle Independence Day on a calendar.”

I understand that polls are often skewed to elicit certain answers; to show specific results, most likely ones that grab headlines and spur magazine sales; and, don’t forget, of course, to promote the urgency for more money for favored institutions (such as teachers unions) and in NEWSWEEK’s case, Democrats. In this particular survey, published this week, I suspect, the numbers are probably even worse. The teaching of civics and history has perhaps suffered most in recent years. It’s natural that these would be edged out by an ever greater emphasis on ideologically based solutions. Let’s face it, Marxism is now in vogue.

As our president travels splendidly throughout Brazil, burnishing his Marxist credentials, his unconstitutional behavior with regard to Libya goes almost unnoticed. Obviously, most Brazilians have not yet gotten the message that he is one of them as evidenced by the feisty street demonstrations against him. But Dilma knows why he’s come. She’ll let him grovel and beg for her validation. Still, she must weigh her ultimate approach to him against her own need for a demon. The U.S. has always served admirably in this regard.

Even if the new Brazilian president should withhold her favors, the trip should still be regarded as a success. When things go wrong in Libya, Obama can always say, “It wasn’t me. It’s all Hillary’s fault. I wasn’t even there.”

Stop The Presses: Wrong Guy!

I really thought today was the day when it begins. The left-wing bloggers were all in position, ready to go. Some even jumped the gun. They were not listeners to the John Batchelor Show. If they had been, they would have known that the first three reports are always wrong.

No, the shooter was not the one they expected. He did not follow the approved script. His car radio was not tuned to Limbaugh, his trunk was not filled with Beck paraphernalia. He did not carry a copy of the Constitution in his pocket. He was not a card-carrying member of any Tea Party. Instead he was a nut job, pure and simple.

He did us a favor by posting unintelligible material on the internet that points to a severely diseased mind. He posted a video of himself burning the American flag (a hat tip to Bill Ayers, perhaps). There were some books on his reading list, but most of them solidly left-inspired.

As more and more facts leaked out, the Left began backing off. This was not their guy. They would have to wait for another, more suitable to their purpose.

I hadn’t really heard the news until late. One tends not to listen to radio much, especially on weekends when it’s snowing. I had just finished posting King Crimson. The devil made me do it. Then, I went back and listened to the words…

Empty White House?

JB, your way of looking at this is not dissimilar to Obama’s. You’re both looking at the same thing, but from different sides. Things or people exist only in relation to something or someone else; and then, only if there is a common element in both. There is no common element between you and POTUS. You watch Obama from afar and your expectation of what he should be doing does not match up with what you see. Therefore you say, “The White House is Empty.” If the moon should fail to rise on a night it is expected to, what would you say? “The sky is empty”? No, of course not. But most would recognize that something of profound significance had occurred.

Similarly, POTUS has taken a measure of what he understands his own sacred mission to be and decided that both the people and the Constitution (which he has sworn to uphold, by the way) are an impediment to him. Therefore, he has seen fit to sever these from his consideration and is now operating rogue. He has said in effect that the people and the Constitution do not exist as far as he is concerned.

That’s how we have come to the point where much of the legislation that has been passed already (during the past two years) is patently unconstitutional. But who would challenge it? Congress - the people’s representatives? Hardly. Congress, as an institution, has debased itself by flagrantly shirking its duty to represent the people; by governing against their will; by making disparaging remarks about constituents and their Constitution; by exempting itself (and ‘friends‘) from it’s own laws. Can you say ‘corruption’?

Much hope is being heaped on the incoming Republicans - particularly Tea Party- supported Republicans - in their ability to sweep in and clean up the mess. Too much hope, if you ask me. They will be faced with a stacked deck; tilting machines; computer keyboards with the ‘W’s’ removed; etc. Much of the damage has already been done (and is now irreversible), especially to the honor, credibility, and legitimacy of the concept of representative government overall.

Obama exists alright, in that everything he does affects us both directly and indirectly. He moves us willy-nilly, like sticks of furniture, around the room. We cannot respond - or, our response goes unheard and unheeded - while the wheels of what has already been set into motion grind on. It is we who do not exist. It is we who inhabit empty rooms. Obama is still president. He can do as he wants.

No Alternative

Congress has once again disgraced itself. It’s getting to be a common theme. The way START was passed is an outrage. Such congressional outrages can be expected to continue into the next session.

This Congress has reduced itself to the level of ‘dog and pony’ show. Only 13% of the people support what this Congress has done. Even with the infusion of Republicans, it will be difficult for the institution to climb back from such depths.

The clear winner is the president. He has been able to amass powers that go far beyond mandated constitutional limits. Anyone crowing that the next Congress will succeed in putting the brakes on what has essentially become a runaway executive branch has another thing coming.

2011 will see more of the same with the added drama of even more partisanship and blame shifting. Meanwhile, Obama’s overall agenda advances.

By 2012, there may well be no alternatives. Obama will own it all. Depending on the public’s mood for continued left-wing gavage, we may yet escape the indignity of civil unrest of the kind we see in Europe. Though it’s unlikely, with fires burning everywhere, that the people will remain in their houses hunkering down with the doors bolted shut.

There will be push-back.

We Are All Socialists Now

We can now put another ornament on Obama’s socialist (mop) Christmas tree: net neutrality. Nobody can yet exactly say what it means. The full text of the new rules haven’t been released yet. But, putting yet another chunk of the free market under government control should tell you all you need to know.

As with other legislation that has passed this year, the new rules basically amount to a framework that allows government to regulate as issues emerge. “At the digression of…” appears to be a ubiquitous phrase in any such legislation. It is also important to note that no such legislation - from ‘health care’ to FINREG to START - has been assembled willy-nilly and without purpose. All of it has been carefully crafted and been filed away from public view for a long time to be taken out at a time most favorable to passage. Law makers have had virtually no way to assess the merits of any such legislation and were required to vote in hurried fashion, strictly along party lines.

Net neutrality, of course, bypassed Congress altogether. There was no opportunity to probe the past associations and affiliations of those who crafted and promoted it. Suffice it to say, that those of us who suspected Obama’s socialist bias all along were right. Vote socialist, and you get socialist - and worse.

At this pace, we can expect a seemingly legitimate bill to slip through a rubberstamp Congress within the next two years that gives Obama the presidency with unlimited power for life. It’ll all be done under the rubric of crisis - Chavez style.

Crisis is the mother’s milk of authoritarian regimes and as such we cannot expect much to improve our situation. Crisis is one of the easiest circumstances to manufacture. Socialism thrives on it. It has never played to finding solutions anywhere its been tried. It just dissolves the parameters by which to judge success or failure.

Republicans and tea party members will have their work cut out for them. Rolling back or de-funding existing open-ended legislation is, they will find, is much like trying to nail Jello to a wall. Their best bet will be to proceed with hearings, focusing on constitutional grounds. This will, however, leave them open to the charge of practicing McCarthyism. The public at large will not be encouraged to support such dramatic high-profile displays. It will judge any effort on the part of Republicans as grandstanding, racism, and rank partisanship. They can be expected to fold like cheap cameras and just go along.

It’s been coming for a long time. It’s all been planned so meticulously, down to the last detail. The shame of it is that we too had a chance to stem this socialist tide. Bush too had control of Congress for a time, but squandered the opportunity to gird us against the threat. The Right has done nothing but capitulate. We now face a situation not dissimilar to our fight against Islamic terrorism in which a whole roster of clarifying terminology has been swept off the table. Mention ‘socialism’ and the full weight of political correctness comes crashing down from the sky to stifle any further hope for honest debate.

Winning

In the absence of compromise, the contest between Republicans and Democrats can be regarded as a war. War is essentially chaos where rules don’t exist.

We send our young men and women to war in foreign lands as to a picnic social. We burden them with volumes of Emily Post’s books of etiquette. Meanwhile, the enemy breaks all the rules: They blow themselves up; hide behind women and children; slit throats; send imposters to negotiate in good faith; steal; pillage; stone; and threaten life and limb. If one of our soldiers, on the other hand, fails to read a captured no-goodnik his Miranda rights (in his own language), inadvertently splits his lip, or (heaven forbid) as much as touches his pocket Koran, he is brought back stateside and put on trial. It’s obvious we are determined to lose.

During our Revolutionary War, the British wore bright red. They marched in tight formation. We, on the other hand, were free to flit around unseen and pick them off one by one. Not very sporting of us. We were determined to win.

In our domestic political struggle today, Republicans pretty much mind their Ps and Qs. They tend to play by Queensbury’s Rules. Meanwhile, the Dems show no such compunction. They think nothing of trampling on the flag, trampling on the Constitution, trampling on our allies, trampling on our laws… For this they are applauded: They win.

Republicans are far too eager to condemn their own. Tom Delay was an effective fighter for the Republican camp. That’s why he was targeted. It’s happened to plenty of others. Perhaps that’s why so few are willing to step up to the plate and engage in the fight. ...because they know that they’ll be hung out to dry by their own side should they become in any way effective in promoting their cause.

Meanwhile, the Dems defend and promote their sexual deviants, tax cheats and out-and-out failures to the hilt. ...and win.

We Will Never Change Them

Polls suggest that Americans on the whole like the president. They just don’t like his policies. Why, then, do we really want to win in November? Answer: To send a message; to get Obama to change direction; to change his heart and mind. It’s the same reason we stayed in Iraq as long as we did. It’s the same reason we are in Afghanistan.

We need to accept the fact that there will always be enemies who want to hurt us. The extent to which racism exists within our own country must be acknowledged and dealt with reasonably. Ditto, anti-capitalism; anti-Americanism; poverty; ignorance; liberalism. All these reflect a minority view or condition. In a free society, this will never go away entirely. We are not obliged, however, to elect groups with such fringe concerns to high office and hope they will be satisfied and leave us alone.

They will continue to make noise and that noise (along with our own noise) is protected by our Constitution. The problem is, their noise is amplified by the media. It makes it seem that there are more of them than there are of us. Not true. We (the majority) own the country and it has worked tolerably well for us. No reason to change course now and become socialist, communist, Marxist or Islamic.

We have to accept that we will never change them. Trying to do so, will inevitably enrage them even more. But we need not play second fiddle to them either. We need not read their newspapers, buy their books or watch their films. We need not patronize their pundits. We can marginalize them just as they marginalize us. At the same time, we need not apologize for our own. We need not say ‘over the top’ to something that’s precisely on point.

One Time Too Many

Since when has Obama been concerned about the Constitution? I agree that BHO can’t go there, but he is not a man who thinks inside a box. If he did, he would have backed off of health care; he would care about his Democrat majority; he would care about his poll numbers. It is obvious he doesn’t. Doesn’t that tell you something?

Obama is unlike any president we’ve ever had. He means to change this country. If he has to destroy it first, he aims to do so. Bloody insurrection is not off the table. Nothing is off the table as far as he is concerned. Who would have thought that someone would deliberately crash airliners into buildings? Who would have thought that after it happened we would be the ones who’d be at each other’s throats? Ground Zero workers are now in the process of suing New York City for damages. The courts are going along with it. Implicit in this is the understanding that we were at fault. …and there’s still a hole there after so many years. Muslims are vying to have an Islamic education center on the very spot where so many of our brothers and sisters died. Why not set up a pro-Nazi gift shop at Auschwitz with pictures of Hitler for sale? Many believe that Arab-hating Bush - the president of the United States at the time - orchestrated the whole thing to give him an excuse for invading Iraq. One of these (‘truthers’) now occupies the highest office in the land.

I wouldn’t put anything past this man. The speeches and writings of the men and women he surrounds himself with have convinced me that this man means business. It is dangerous to underestimate him. He clearly does not have the best interests of our nation in mind. He proves it every day he is in office. I honestly think that he believes he’s got everything covered; that audacity will win out. …and it will, if we refuse to see what this man is all about; if we say, “he can’t go there… the Constitution forbids it… he won’t get re-elected”, etc.

Obama got elected. For him that’s more than enough. “Thank Allah for my black face! Thank Allah for America’s boundless guilt! Thank Allah for our educational system that produces armies of bloodless vegan wimps!”

For us, the one-time election of Barack Hussein Obama has been one time too many.

Set Ourselve On Fire

Lou - There's really not much Republicans can do legislatively; and, as this presidential term drags on, they'll be able to do even less - even with a majority in both houses. In case you haven't noticed, the czars and courts are taking over the running of everything.

The least we Conservatives/Republicans can do is to stick together and stop sniping at one another (thank you Mr. Batchelor, Mr. Savage, Mr. Levin). Additionally, we could do things to bust through the major media smoke screen and protest; shout; resist; set ourselves on fire; educate; hobble; slow; block; march; withhold our taxes; organize; fill the prisons (with ourselves) if need be. Shout 'liar!' every chance we get without apologizing afterwards. I swear; it's as if the Republican Party is and has been on a permanent vacation. You don't hear so much as a peep out of any of them. Scrap the bi-partisanship! We can't convert them; their minds are made up. Neither can we give in. This is war!

Granted, the media isn't helping matters. But that didn't seem to bother Reagan much. He managed quite nicely to get his points across. Mark Levin is filing lawsuits against the government predicated on the proposition that our Constitution is being shamelessly violated on all fronts. That alone should give the Dems pause or, at the very least, provide us with a platform to speak our piece. Why should only terrorists have that privilege?

I don’t have all the answers. In fact, I don’t have any. I’m just a regular guy (despite what Spencer says) who can see what’s happening and what is about to happen. Can it be stopped? I think so. I think there’s overwhelming support out there just waiting for the right leader to emerge. So far, there hasn’t been anyone. McCain? Palin? Dobbs? Huckabee? – lightweights, each and every one. Among those I’ve mentioned, Palin appears to be the best at the moment. But the media would turn her into road kill. Still waiting for someone who can dodge the traffic.

Out of the Blue

If there are only Republicans and Democrats to vote for by the time the next election comes around there will be a major uprising in this country. Both the Democrat and Republican scripts are so pathetic, neither would motivate anyone to go to the polls.

America is ready for a third party. This could take the form of an outsider galvanizing one of the existing parties to become in effect a third party - a scenario under which one of the existing parties would simply fade away (we have seen this with the election of Barrack Hussein Obama when the Democrat Party effectively ceased to be, to become the Socialist Party of America) - or a third party that admits to it outright and would run against both Republicans and Democrats, treating both as complicit with regard to the crimes foisted upon the American people and their Constitution. I would venture that under either scenario the third party would win easily.

Key to the process is the man or woman who would lead the third party to power. No current political figure with party credentials will have a snowball's chance in hell of getting elected president in 2012. This leaves out all of the names we hear currently being bandied about. Our next president will come to us out of the blue. Like Obama, he will catch us off our guard. But unlike Obama, the problems he will face will be real; not imagined, or fabricated by two-dimensional TV images produced and directed by George Soros’ photo shop section.

Death By A Thousand Cuts

Again we have Thaddeus questioning how many angels can dance on the head of a pin, thinking that death by a thousand cuts will actually impact this essentially lawless administration. What he should be asking is the big questions, like: Is the rule of law (as applies to the executive branch) still in effect? If not, ask the president to officially suspend the Constitution and declare martial law. Then, Obama can go ahead and do what he wants - no questions asked.

One of the things that got Bush in trouble over and over again was not officially declaring war on the 'axis'. In the end, it became a convoluted legal matter to figure out just who the enemy was. Absurdly, the progressives succeeded in flipping the script to make Bush himself the enemy. ...and, incredibly, most people went along with it.

McCotter's 'thousand cuts' approach won't work because, aside from this website, it gets zero coverage. Only Republican turn-coats and appeasers get liberal coverage in the MSM. Only American patriots who dare ask the big questions have any chance of getting noticed (albeit in a negative way, but noticed nonetheless) and breaking through the glass ceiling the American media has established to determine just who gets to sit in the front of the bus.
