Inappropriate

I, for one, am getting pretty sick of this story. We just keep going round and round like perpetual motion machines. The Left thinks it has something here when it doesn’t. It keeps trying to punch the square peg into the round hole. It’s really quite pathetic to watch.

What strikes me about Jared’s video is how nice the campus looks. It must have cost taxpayers quite a bundle to build. A virtual palace of learning.

Reminds of American colleges and universities building campuses in India for whatever reason - exporting liberalism, I suppose.

Reminds also of India’s project to re-build Nalanda University, a Buddhist center of learning from 427 to 1197 CE and one of the first great universities in recorded history. Nalanda was sacked by Turkic Muslims invaders in 1193, a milestone in the decline of Buddhism in India. The great library of Nalanda was so vast, it is reported to have burned three months after the Moguls set fire to it. The restoration of Nalanda was approved by the Indian government in 2010. It was meant to be a project in which all Asia was to participate. China balked at the proposed involvement of the Dalai Lama in the planning. Singapore supported China’s stance. India capitulated and thus another noble experiment in education fell victim to politics and was thereby diminished.

It’s not difficult to imagine what was being taught at his community college. It’s the same liberal claptrap that’s being taught throughout America. Witness the raucous - and some say, ‘inappropriate’ - reaction to Obama’s ’memorial’ appearance at the McKale Memorial Center on the campus of the University of Arizona in Tucson.

The Stoning Of Sarah

The Left certainly was more than ready for this one. It’s almost as if their talking points had been already scripted and sitting right there in the ‘out’ tray for months, just waiting for the inevitable moment to materialize. The media was already suited up, (ink)jets scrambled. It was the moment they had been waiting for: the opportunity to strike a blow against such perennials as gun rights, the tea parties, and talk radio. Well done, Left!

No time was lost on reflection. Facts that didn’t quite match evaporated before our very eyes. Websites scrubbed. Beck dropped. The rugs had been lifted to accommodate whatever was inconvenient to dispose of properly.

Some months ago a website (I forget which) posted a video of the stoning of a young girl somewhere in Pakistan. Nothing was left to the imagination. At the time, I wondered not just about the vicious frenzy of those throwing the stones, but also of the passive nature of those watching, and filming. The filming, especially, bothered me. “How sick!” I thought.

But then I realized that those filming couldn’t possibly be sitting around watching this again and again over popcorn and beer. There must be something more to it.

Maybe they were crying out for help. Maybe it was the only way they could think of to expose the madness. It was for us to see - to be outraged, as they were - to be moved to intercede; to take charge; to rescue them from their bloody Islamic hell. At considerable risk to themselves, they succeeded in smuggling the video out to what they believed to be the beneficent West, only to be shelved there and ignored.

We too have a bloody woman on our hands. Only, for us, it doesn’t seem to be enough. We want more. We want Sarah Palin’s head mounted on a stake to be paraded through our streets. We want Limbaugh and Beck. We want the population disarmed and helpless, at the mercy of thugs and tax collectors. We want the Tea Parties castrated and silent. We want our Constitution shredded. It is now clear that this is the official narrative of our intent.

We’ve just come from celebrating an election (in which the wrong party made huge gains). Some of us had been full of hope that things will improve with the infusion of fresh blood. That much we got. We were eagerly awaiting the first signs of change, of rebuilding that which had slipped away during the past two years. Now all of it has been overshadowed, sidetracked, postponed - the momentum lost. Who wins? Not democracy; not freedom. We’ve exploited our opportunity to take a step backwards. We’ve been derailed, stifled, disheartened. We’ve once again come face to face with just how fragile our system has become. We’ve become irritable and irritating in the same breath.

Those cell phone Pakis must be crying. America will not help. America can’t even help itself.

JUMP!

Why is it so often the gun that makes the headline? Should I now be afraid that my own might some day turn against me? And then there’s the matter of blowing everything so out of proportion in these high-profile cases. Oh, I’m not arguing that it is or isn’t wall-to-wall. It clearly is. But is it justified? Frankly, I felt awkward listening to the show last night.

Some poor shmuck is found in a dumpster in Delaware and there’s hardly a mention. Only, as we would find, he wasn’t just some poor shmuck; he was a man of considerable position and influence. Still, hardly worth a mention - only the titillating speculation that he might have crawled into the dumpster to keep warm on a cold night - Republicans do this sort of thing, you know.

Then, it’s been reported, that our casualty rate in Afghanistan has reached proportions not seen since the thick if the Iraq war. But then, they’re only soldiers. They seem to be quite expendable. No longer is there a (public) count kept of the dead (as there was for Bush). No investigations over why things are going badly. Could it be we’ve placed too many restrictions on our soldiers? Hmm… I wonder.

And what about our citizens getting murdered along both sides our border with Mexico? What exactly is being done about that? I guess they too don’t count for much - like all the birds and fish found dead this past week (and don’t tell me that nobody knows what’s going on with that. God! I thought this was going to be the smartest, most transparent administration ever; one, that even promised to ‘return science to its proper place‘!) But apparently only those elected (or swindled) into the cult of political royalty count. For them we’re only too happy to pull out all the stops; make broad-brush statements, and draw grandiose, metaphysical conclusions.

Look, where was anybody watching as Jared Loughner went off the rails!? His views weren’t unknown. He was said to have been in a band; he broadcast on u-tube. Where was the school; the teachers he handed his written assignments to, and some he must have looked up to? Where were his parents? Most likely, he was encouraged - prodded on - like the man on a ledge. The crowd looks up and screams, “Go man, jump! Jump!” …and then we’re surprised when he does.

Stop The Presses: Wrong Guy!

I really thought today was the day when it begins. The left-wing bloggers were all in position, ready to go. Some even jumped the gun. They were not listeners to the John Batchelor Show. If they had been, they would have known that the first three reports are always wrong.

No, the shooter was not the one they expected. He did not follow the approved script. His car radio was not tuned to Limbaugh, his trunk was not filled with Beck paraphernalia. He did not carry a copy of the Constitution in his pocket. He was not a card-carrying member of any Tea Party. Instead he was a nut job, pure and simple.

He did us a favor by posting unintelligible material on the internet that points to a severely diseased mind. He posted a video of himself burning the American flag (a hat tip to Bill Ayers, perhaps). There were some books on his reading list, but most of them solidly left-inspired.

As more and more facts leaked out, the Left began backing off. This was not their guy. They would have to wait for another, more suitable to their purpose.

I hadn’t really heard the news until late. One tends not to listen to radio much, especially on weekends when it’s snowing. I had just finished posting King Crimson. The devil made me do it. Then, I went back and listened to the words…
