After Jimi died, Eric Clapton was asked whom he would now consider to be the greatest guitarist. Clapton answered without hesitation. "Prince, of course," he said. There's no telling why Prince never particularly highlighted this skill. But it certainly is true; he is one of the greats - and Clapton knew it.


  1. Will you provide your source of information where Clapton made that comment? It's an easy thing to quote Clapton but do you have a written 3rd party article to verify that?

  2. It's something I remember having heard. I'm not writing a thesis here. But you're right, I shouldn't have put quotes around it. In fact, I should not have said anything at all. I wasn't there. It' possible it never happened.
