The GOP is Toast
So too, the Dems (in this country) will collapse 'from the top'. Already we see the fault lines emerging between those who want to moderate and those who want to radicalize even more. The danger is that the radicals will win; that they will come to recognize the instability within their own ranks and resort to fascism.
It’s odd, that the party that Bill Clinton effectively hollowed out to the point of permitting the “hate America first” crowd to take it over, today seems more alive than the GOP. As I see it, the Republicans are completely shut out of the political process well into the next century.
Both, JB and Arlen Specter know the GOP is effectively barred from regaining power forever. Both have mapped out survival strategies for themselves. Republicans have sealed their fate by refusing to fight (and refusing to lead when they were winning). Only their most viscous supporters think they will be able to simply waltz in after declaring America’s experiment with socialism a failure.
Ahmadinejad too may be failing his people in many critical areas, but I don’t see his opposition in the position of ever coming forward and turning things around.
