Well-Versed

Nice to know that we finally have a president who appears to understand and is well-versed in Muslim ways. Clearly, the House of Al-Saud owes its continued existence on U.S. largess - not only militarily but also with respect to the oil we consume and pay for. It is perhaps not too much of a stretch to say that the House of Al-Saud depends on us just as much as the Israelis do.

It would be interesting to read transcripts of just what was said in discussions between the King and Barrack Hussein Obama. Did the King realize that Obama's plans would not necessarily favor the kingdom? If so, did he try to convince Obama to change course? After all, the Bush policy suited him just fine.

Does King Abdullah realize that the days of the monarchy are numbered? Does Israel? It seems to me that what we have here are new and natural alliances in the making, based on sound strategic concerns: Israel and Saudi Arabia; adding Jordan (perhaps), Egypt, Kuwait, the UE; (there may be others further afield) India…
